Places on Campus to get Help
- The
Writing Place is a peer tutoring center run by the Writing Program and located in the University Library. The Writing Place offers consultation on a variety of writing issues for undergraduate and graduate students by specially trained undergraduate tutors. Sessions can be scheduled in advance; drop-in help is also available.
- Peer tutors work with writers through face-to-face consultation. It is not an editing service; papers cannot be dropped off for later pickup.
- Faculty who want more information about the Writing Place should contact the director, Dr. Barbara Shwom.
- The
University Library has extensive resources in print and online. Reference librarians are available to help students and faculty with library tools, reference materials, and special collections. Contact the Reference Department if you want to schedule an individual appointment with a Reference Librarian.
- Suffering from writer’s block or confidence problems? You don’t need to struggle alone. Stress-related issues often make writing more difficult. CAPS and the Women’s Center both offer counseling for NU students.
